Blood Bowl Skaven

Even though you are lazy, you can still get cool minis.
Before Christmas I accepted the fact, that I'd never get around to painting my all-time favourite Blood Bowl team: the Skaven.
Skaven was the first BB team I ever played, and I've loved them with a vengeance ever since. That, combined with the amazing sculpting of the 2nd ed. minis by Jes Goodwin, makes them my absolute favourite team.

Therefore, when I saw the amazing work Painted by G had done on his orc team "Der Will be Blood", I decided that he was the right man for the job. I had already collected a complete skaven team with substitute WHFB figs (star players/staff/counters) from the same era - sculpted by Jes Goodwin, of course - so I contacted G(raham) and made an arrangement.
Now, the team's fully done and I can't wait to get my greasy paws on the minis and take them for a test run on the field of glory!

Here they are - my new pride and joy:

Blood Bowl Orcs

Wow, I've been a lazy... Anyway, I'll try and make up for it by posting the work I've done while not blogging about it.

As I wrote in my last/first post, my concentration span didn't last for more than two human players and instead I've started on an orc team. So far I've managed to finish a gobbo and an orc kicker (read: orc lino dirty player!).
The gobbo was meant for Talk Fantasy Footballs Golden Football monthly (January) painting competition (no prizes - just friendly words and motivation); Stunty Stampede. Rules: Only stunties. Unfortunately, as I was too late in submitting, it didn't take part. Stupid me. :/
The "kicker" is for this month's Golden Football; Unsung Heroes (linemen). It still runs for another 9 days, so no polling yet.

Besides the amazing(?) progress of two finished minis, I also started on four orc blitzers for the team - which I'm thinking of calling Liver-in-a-pool FC, by the way - who are still just WIPs. Comments are very welcome!

So, with no further ado, here goes:

Blood Bowl Humans

Ok, here goes - my first painting blog. As will be written somewhere on this page soon, I'm most certainly not a professional. The reason for doing this blog is only to motivate myself to get some painting done and to hopefully receive some useful feedback. (Hint, hint!)

I’ve decided to start this blog with my second latest Blood Bowl project – a 2nd ed. Human team with colour scheme based on the good old Bad Bay Hackers from the formidable BB books by Matt Forbeck.

As my concentration span is like that of a 7 year old, I’ve of course already put the humans back on their shelf and started a new project (that I’ll hopefully finish…). To my defense, though, it should be said that I’m not planning on playing human anytime soon, so that’s also one of the reasons for putting this project aside.

Enough said! Here they are – my two and a half men team. The blocker is finished (apart from the shoelaces and base). He’s been coated with a glossy varnish for protection and will receive a layer of matt varnish to remove the shininess. Griegor Miessen (the star player) is very close to finished. No varnish there. The catcher – well… He’s just there to show a start-up picture…

Over and out for now...
